The 6’3 210 lb. brown-haired green-eyed A-Rod, as he is known by fans was chosen as one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People of 1998. In 1999 he had some problems due to a knee injury, but that didn’t stop him from signing the much talked about free-agent ten year Texas Rangers contract for $252 million dollars at the end of 2000. Rodriguez had other injuries in 2001, but still batted a 318 average and was presented with the top offensive players Hank Aaron Award.
After a great year in 2002, Alex Rodriguez was a major league leader and was again the Sporting News Player of the Year – making him only the seventh player to win that award twice. Rodriguez left the Texas Rangers for the New York Yankees in February, 2003. After a rough start with the Yankees, he reached a 610 batting average in 2005 and that earned him MVP. 4 August, 2007 marked his 500th career home run. At age 32, he was the youngest player to achieve that record. Alex Rodriguez and his wife, Cynthia’s first daughter was born 18 November, 2004 and their second, 22 April, 2008. |
